'A Levitated Fashion'

Fashion in the 21st Century is used to express an individual. Many people use their clothes to express a mood or a way of life. The fashion of the time is eccentric and makes a statement. My interest lies in the relationship objects can have with the human body, with a fervent eye for future trends. I am inspired by how strongly we can manipulate what is around us.

My aim was to explore leviation and magnets within our garments which in time could provide more comfort for the wearer through anti-gravity clothes. In time this could reduce friction and turn natures stickiness into repulsion, creating the ultimate remedy and questioning the multiple possibilities of how to give our clothes full spacial autonomy and a new form of beauty in the 21st Century.

Tattoo’s and piercings has now reached a mainstream high and people are looking for new ways to scar the body as a new form of beauty and as a creative expression in a way to transform their appearance. Some sub-cultures are implanting metal into their bodies, transforming the natural body shape. With this new trend in mind, could this change and question how we wear our clothes? Could we imbed magnets in our clothes so that they just hang off our bodies? Could clothes levitate, creating frictionless garments?
